Sammie S.
Jen is the most amazing therapist I have ever been with in my 8 years of therapy. I have never felt safer with anyone else. Jen creates the most comforting and safe environment, and I know I can be completely and fully honest with her. I could not be more thankful for all the progress I have had while working with Jen. I couldn't recommend her more.
Ashley W.
I have been seeing Jen for the last two years and cannot say enough good things about her. I began doing EMDR with Jen after experiencing an extremely traumatic event. She was incredibly knowledgeable about trauma and EMDR, compassionate and caring throughout the entire process and I had life altering results. I had so much success with Jen and EMDR, I decided to leave my individual therapist and continue to work with her.
Frequently Asked Questions
We offer daytime, evening, and weekend appointments. Contact us to schedule a convenient day and time that works for you. We offer in-person and teletherapy (video) sessions.
We accept BlueCross BlueShield PPO.* We are NOT in network with BCBS HMO. If you are unsure whether your plan is PPO or HMO, please contact your insurance provider.
Standard therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes in length. Sessions may be shorter or longer depending on a number of circumstances. In the event a crisis arises or more time is required for any reason, extra time will be billed at the clinician’s prorated fee (for private pay clients) or there may be an additional copay depending on your plan (for BCBSIL PPO clients).
The first visit with your therapist is a time for you and your therapist to get acquainted and get an idea of how to proceed. They will ask you about symptoms, childhood, relationships, current living situation, and your career.
Psychotherapy is not an instant fix, and will likely require multiple visits. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature and will explore specific symptoms/traumas/challenges you mentioned in the first session. Depending on your goals, therapy can last anywhere from a few sessions to several years.
Please bring your insurance card and ID so we can make a copy. There will be some paperwork for you to fill out for your first visit, so come a little early.
I will ask for current medications and provider information, so please have that handy as well.
This will be something discussed between you and your therapist based on your goals and treatment plan.
Online therapy (also called Telemedicine or Telehealth) is the use of video and audio technologies to support long-distance services between providers and their clients.
Basically you can do a counseling session with your mobile device with your therapist, no matter where you may be.
You’ll need the below to join a Telehealth (online therapy) session with your provider:
- A computer, tablet, or phone.
- An external or integrated webcam.
- An external or integrated microphone.
- An internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 MBPS. We recommend an Ethernet cable over Wifi when possible to ensure you receive the best possible connection through your internet provider. You can check your internet speed here.
- Shut down all background applications to ensure Telehealth receives the majority of your internet’s bandwidth, especially applications that use your camera.
